A couple of weeks ago I told you all about The Fashion Sessions Britomart. If your in Auckland this is a great event to attend to get a feel for a 'Fashion Show', and see some of New Zealand's top designers on display.

This years line up was pretty hard to choose from, in terms of which show to attend, but a girlfriend and I decided on Trelise Cooper. I love Trelise Cooper's use of colour, her bold floral prints and how she manages to incorporate a bit of girlieness into everything! She showcased pieces from her Autumn Collections of Trelise Cooper, COOPER, and THE CO-OP.

Unfortunately my photos don't quite do the clothes justice so I have also highlighted below some of my favourite pieces from her website.

COOPER Crop Drop and Roll Jacket $699.00, COOPER Electric Avenue Jacket $459.00, COOPER Watch the Throne Jacket $549.00, Flower Power Necklace $90.00, I Will Always Cuff You Bangle $49.00.

The BAFTAS
Film and TV stars gathered at London's Royal Opera House on Sunday 14th February to to honour the best British and International contributions to film in 2015. The BAFTAS, (The British Academy Film Awards) is considered the prelude to the OSCARS.

As it is mid Winter in the UK when this is held, it is always a challenge for the stars to dress-up, but these outfits really shone out from all the rest.

The Grammy Awards - A night that celebrates all that's great in mostly American music. It is also a night for sublime to ridiculous fashion! I thought I'd go for the more ridiculous spectrum, but start with those who pushed the boundaries of fashion but got away with it, to those who went all out!! You decide who they are...

8 DESIGNERS, 5 SHOWS, 4 VENUES, 3 DAYS
With far too much fashion to fit into just two days, Britomart's revamped Fashion Sessions is stretching out this year with an extra day, extra shows and extra venues.

Thursday 25 February, Kate Sylvester, Zambesi and WORLD will stop traffic with back-to-back runway shows right down the centre of Tyler Street. An evening of New Zealand’s finest, guests will be invited into the designer boutiques for pre-show drinks and canapés from 5pm before they take their seats under a clear roof marquee to enjoy the show, the fairy lights glistening overhead.

Friday 26 February, Trelise Cooper and Juliette Hogan will keep it classic with shows in Britomart's Atrium on Takutai. Keeping with the theme of extra everything, this year the Atrium catwalk is being extended to make room for more seats and more style. Held in the afternoon and evening respectively, both designer shows will begin with drinks and canapés at the new Fashion Sessions hosting space on Takutai Square so guests can ease into the swing of things, glass in hand.

Saturday 27 February, Taylor and Ted Baker will take to the runway with Autumn/Winter styles for the lads and the ladies in the Atrium on Takutai. With a pre-show event at Takutai Square from 11am, the designer showcase will start at midday, giving guests plenty of time to indulge in a spot of shopping or champagning in the afternoon. Later that night, Kathryn Wilson will invite guests up to the spectacular Seafarers Members’ Club Rooftop Bar for a preview of her new season collections. Encouraging guests to look good and do a little good too, $10 of every $45 Kathryn Wilson ticket will go directly to supporting Sir Ray Avery's Medicine Mondiales; an initiative that builds incredible 'LifePod Incubators' for developing countries.

From the catwalk to the closet, all looks at The Fashion Sessions will be from the designers’ current collections so you won’t have to suffer through the usual post-show wait for the garments to reach stores. And with resident beauty gurus Ryder Salon and M.A.C Cosmetics once again in charge of the models hair and makeup, there'll be a bit of beauty inspiration on offer too.

For more information, and to purchase tickets go to The Fashion Sessions-Birtomart.

Best dressed at the Screen Actors GuildĀ (SAG) Awards

7/2/2016

There were some beautiful dresses, (or Jumpsuits if you look at Kristen Wig), on show at the SAG's this year. For me, its not all about the dress, its also how its been styled and whether it suits the person wearing it.  The following actresses probably have very good stylists, (which most celebs do), or they know how to dress to show off their assets. I chose these outfits because I felt the overall look showcased the best of each person. All photos from Eonline.

From left to right;

Helen Mirren in Jenny Packham -  I love Helen Mirren, she may be in her 70's but she knows how to dress for the red carpet.
Alicia Vikander in Louis Vuitton - a stunning dress, for a beautiful young actress. She is a classic rectangle shape, and has dressed this to her advantage with the long lean dress, but the sequin design, and side split takes it to the next level.
Laura Prepon in Carmen Marc Valvo - I thought this look perfectly suited Laura Prepon's figure and the cream colour worked so well with her dark hair.
Picture
From left to right;
Emilia Clarke in Dior - her petite pear bodyshape is perfectly highlighted with the nipped in waist and v-neck line, plus the colour is gorgeous on her.
Sofia Vergara in Vera Wang - Sofia Vergara has some serious curves and always knows how to style them to her advantage. The colour is eye popping and her hourglass figure is definitely on show. I love the necklace and clutch to finish the look.
Picture
From left to right;
Queen Latifah in Michael Costello - a classic Apple shape Queen Latifah looks stunning in this black floor length gown and simple accessories.
Kristen Wig in Roland Mouret - I loved that Kristen Wig took a risk and wore a jumpsuit. This looks gorgeous on her and is accessorised perfectly.
Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab - I love this dress. Its a beautiful beaded gown and Rachel McAdams has kept it very simple with no accessories, you don't always need to accessorise when you have something so stunning and intricate.
