My four hour flight to Sydney a couple of weeks ago was bliss. Four hours to read a book, or watch a film without kid interruption, or rather watch a film that is not animated or with a PG rating! My choice of film was The Iris Apfel Documentary. If you are a fan of high-end fashion, or an appreciation or interest in fashion then this is a must see.
Iris Apfel is an American business women, interior designer and fashion icon, who also happens to be 94!
She has been a fashionista most of her life and she has an amazing lust for life! She totally deifies stereotypes as to how a woman of her age should dress, or how anyone should dress. She loves jewellery and colour and print and I think she is a fashion inspiration.
She has been the face of MAC Cosmetics advertising campaign, see below, and she has had an exhibition of her wardrobe/accessories at the New York Metropolitan Museum. Not bad for 94?!
This quote from her sums up why I think she is an inspiration;
"Fashion you can buy, but style you posses. The key to style is learning who you are, which takes years. There's no how-to road map to style. Its about self-expression and above all attitude."
