Winter Essentials - Joggers!

30/6/2015

Continuing my Winter Essentials list, one of the pant styles for this Winter seems to be the jogger/slouch pant or combat pant. I have a couple of pairs of these myself and find them really comfortable. My joggers are more suited for daytime styling, but there are some great satin look ones, or printed ones that can be dressed up with heels for night time. Otherwise, during the day, I wear mine with sneakers , high-tops or ankle boots.

From top left to right; Country Road Woven jogger $169.00, French Connection Formal jogger AU$129.95, Decjuba PU Ponte jogger on sale at  $79.95, Seed Heritage zipper cargo pant AU$129.95, Witchery chambray pocket pant $149.90, Decjuba Vivian jacquard track pant $99.95.

For a daytime casual look I'd team joggers with the following;
French Connection Zebra stripe knit AU$129.95, Wanderlust & Co Floral deco gunmetal necklace AU$76.21, Country Road ovoid cardigan $199.00, Witchery chambray pocket pant $149.90, Witchery Txtl Adrienne tote $109.90, Overland del ray leather sneaker $139.90.

For more of an evening look try the satin, leather or printed joggers with heels, or peep toe ankle boots, (check out my Shoes page for more styles of peep toe ankle boots);

From top left to right; Witchery cut out shoulder top $64.90, Decjuba joe tassle snood $39.95,
Witchery splice zip jacket $169.90, Witchery triangle drop earring $34.90, Decjuba Vivian jacquard track pant $99.95, French Connection Peep toe booties AU$189.95.

Winter Essentials - Tops

23/6/2015

Carrying on my theme of Winter Essentials, (from three posts back), I have been on a search this week for Tops to show you. I'm talking tops with a print, design or something that you can just throw on and look good, or you can accessorise with a funky necklace to make it a bit more dressy, or a scarf to add a different texture or print to your look.

There definitely seems to be quite a few different styles repeated wherever I looked, predominantly there seems to be a lot of;
  • Stripes - the breton stripe
  • Prints - anything goes but animal and camo is popular
  • Shirts are still big news
  • For a more dressy look - satin or polyester
  • Autumnal hues are on trend - think plum, olive, russet.

Here's my pick of whats out there and how I would style them;
From top left to right - Decjuba Dexie long sleeve print knit $109.95, Storm Wing it bird print shirt $159.00, French Connection Sequin heart Tee AU$59.95, Trenery stripe t-shirt $26.18 (limited sizes), Storm Times right shirt poly $169.00, Witchery long sleeve gathered blouse $109.90.

Winter Essentials - Jeans

I have been on the look out for a new pair of jeans, and there are some different trends to consider this Winter. For me, my problem is that all the ones that I have found on my travels are too short, and even though I know the crop look is in, there is cropped and there is looking like I've put my daughter jeans on!

I have trouble finding jeans that are long enough for me, as mentioned above, but I find the following stores are great for length and fit, holding their shape and different styles;
  • Witchery/Seed - for their boyfriend/coated jeans
  • Just Jeans - Lee Riders / Mavi - for skinny or straight leg
  • MAX - for their straight leg jean
  • Top Shop - for skinny jeans
  • EZIBUY - are great for curvy/fuller figures

This Winter there are four styles that seem to be popular;
  • The skinny jean
  • The boyfriend
  • The coated
  • The ripped jean

In terms of fit, you know what style/shape suits your body best, and I appreciate that if you are not straight up and down then ordering from a website is not ideal. Top Shop has two stores in Auckland, but do not stock the full range that they have on their site. Seed Heritage is an Australian label with two stores in Auckland currently, and available on line. EZIBUY has stores around the country and is really great for curvy figures.

You can also check out my Dress for your Shape page to get an idea of your bodyshape and how to style your jeans.

Continuing the theme from last week, Winter Essentials - see post below, I have been on the hunt in the shops and internet for Winter Coats. A great on trend Winter Coat will really add that final polish to your overall look. There are also some great sales on so look out for special deals on coats at this time of year.

There are a few key styles for Winter Coats this season,
  • The wrap or blanket coat.
  • The oversized or boxy  coat.
  • The checked coat.
  • The classic black coat.
There is also the Parka, which I featured in one of my May postings - (check out my Archives on the top right hand side.)

So with these styles in mind I have picked four of my favourites that I have seen in the shops.
From left to right- Trenery checked jacquard coat $259.00, Witchery Wrap blanket coat $449.90 (also comes in grey), Storm wool cocoon coat $349.00 (also comes in black and cream), Decjuba Lara combination coat $229.95.
