Spring Trends.

As promised in my last update, I am bringing you a sneak peek at some of the up and coming trends for Spring. I have already seen Spring looks trickling into the shops and there are a few trends that seem to be popular for Spring;

  • The Gypsy / Bohemian
  • The 70's hippy chick
  • Softly Tailored
  • The Safari
  • Denim

Here are my picks from what I have seen in the shops. Over the next few weeks I'll revisit these themes and throw some outfits together so you know how to style them.

The Gypsy/Bohemian - Think billowing tops, flowing material, 'broderie anglaise' fabrics, (which is cut-out lace detailing), as well as off the shoulder dresses/tops.  All Country Road- Broderie panel blouse $109.00, Bandeau stripe shirt $149.00 and Broderie circle skirt $199.00.

Revisit the 70s with wide leg trousers / flares, A-line mini-skirts, suede, smock tops, fringing and maxi dresses.  Witchery Nautique pant $169.90, French Connection Woodstock stitch shirt AU$129.95 and Seed Heritage Resort crepe tassle skirt AU$149.95.

For a less structured take on the 9-5 office attire think soft draping or wrapping detail in tailoring in navy, creams and pastel colours.

The safari look - khaki colours, animal prints and creams and tan.
Decjuba Pheobe stripe dress $109.95, Forever New Luella wrap front cami top AU$59.99, Seed Heritage Cross over harem AU$79.95.

Denim - denim is everywhere, flared jeans, denim dresses, the denim shirt, you cant go wrong with denim this Spring.
Witchery denim shirt dress $169.90, Witchery denim crop top $109.90, Dotti patch pocket flare jean $59.99.

Shoes/Accessories
Spring/Summer shoes are all about the gladiator or anything with strappy detailing, alternatively the espadrille has been dressed up! For heels go for platforms or wedges. Fringing is also big news on shoes, and bags. Talking bags, the bucket shape is what you want to be carrying.

Here are the last few dresses I spied which are big news for Winter.

All these styles are very popular, the tie waist, stripes and the knitted look, and they are all really great prices too. For more on how to style them check out my two different looks below.

From top left to right; Witchery soft tie dress $169.90, Country Road Print shirt dress $199.00, Country Road pique block stripe dress $169.00, French Connection Sally stripe midi dress $89.95, Witchery high neck knit shift dress $169.90,

I picked the Witchery high neck knit dress because despite being a shift dress, the seam down the middle does draw the eye down and the high neck elongates the line upwards so it is a great dress to wear for a lot of body shapes.

For a daytime casual look I've  have teamed it with; Country Road colour block scarf $89.90, Esprit Tamara Tote bag AU$89.95 and Country Road Verity sneaker $149.00.

For when the temperature drops team this Country Road print shirt dress with a long line cardigan and woolly tights!

Country Road fine long line cardigan $139.00, Country Road mini rib tights $34.90, Glassons folk tassle pouch $29.99, Trenery smithy nubuck zip boot $259.00.

Winter Essential dresses

This was meant to be my last post on the Winter Essentials theme, but I have spotted so many gorgeous dresses out there that I will have to feature some of them next week too!

For Winter dresses I'm talking, day-time/casual dresses, not evening dresses, although I promise to feature some of those soon. There definitely seems to be a lot of different types of casual dresses around. I have spotted knitted dresses, tie waist dresses, stripes, printed dresses - animal/camo print seem popular, a smorgasbord of beautiful dresses to choose from.

So below are a few of my favourite dresses right now, and then I have picked a couple of dresses to style so you get an idea of what to wear with them, enjoy!

From top left to right; Country Road merino wool blend kimono sleeve dress $169.00, Storm catch me camo shirt dress $229.00, Topshop tape fringe dress UK£42.00, (in store in Auckland), The Iconic Melrose Knit dress $79.95, Trenery v-neck knit dress $199.00.

This Storm dress I'd style with a black merino underneath and black tights, an ankle boot and a waist belt to add some definition to the shirt dress. Just some simple gold studs finishes off the look.
Storm catch me camo shirt dress $229.00, Witchery button stud $14.90, Portmans super skinny metal bar belt AU$24.95, Witchery alice ankle boot $229.90.

For a drink with the girls, or a casual day-time function, how about this cute Topshop knitted fringed dress, teamed with knee-high boots and and a coatigan. This dress could be dressed up with a formal coat or a leather jacket and heels.
Topshop tape fringe dress UK£42.00, (in store in Auckland), Witchery shawl coatigan $199.90, Overland rentawide boot $329.00, Witchery Jasmine tote $109.90.
