Jeans Free for a week!

30/5/2017

Next week I have decided to force myself to think outside the square in terms of putting my outfits together and to not wear jeans for a week! (If you would like to follow my looks over the seven days then I will be posting photos to my Facebook and Instagram accounts. If you'd like to take part in my Jeans Free Week, from Monday 5th June, than add your photos to Instagram with the following hashtag; Jeansfreeweek.)

You might be very happy in your jeans, (I wear mine to death), but I thought it would be fun to push the boundaries and to force myself to be a bit more imaginative in creating my day to day looks. This will require a bit of planning ahead, (especially as I am in Australia for three days next week),  and with that in mind I have searched the shops for different pieces that you can integrate into your wardrobe, or give you ideas, for something else to wear apart from jeans.

Coated Trousers
The Coated Trouser is still popular and can be dressed up or down. For a daytime look team them with a cute knit and some sneakers. Witchery Orchard Frill Knit $199.90, Seed Heritage Heavey Coated Jean $139.90, Seed Heritage Perry Sneaker $69.90.
Trelise Cooper Behind the Jeans Jean $299.00 and Witchery Zip Textured Ponte Pant $109.90.

Flippy Skirt
A short skirt teamed with black tights in winter is a stylish alternative to your everyday look. This flippy style is really cute and is very flattering. Esprit Fine Knit Jumper w Sequins AU$89.95, Witchery Petal Mini $89.90, Merchant Emmy Long Boot $249.00
Ezibuy Emerge Flip Hem Skirt $69.99 and French Connection Honey Bird Flippy Skirt $109.90

Midi Pleat Skirt
The midi pleated skirt isn't going away and this style now comes in an array of different colours and fabrics. For a daytime look, to dress the skirt down, team it with a sweatshirt and trainers. French Connection Embellished Bird Sweat $119.90, Merchant Deuce Ritter Lazer Sneaker $149.90, French Connection Metallic Pleat Skirt $119.90.
Forever New Harriet Satin Pleated Midi Skirt AU$89.99 and Portmans Liquid Pleated Skirt AU$99.95.

Drape Pant
For a relaxed trouser style look for a drape pant. These are super comfy and can be dressed up or down. The velour or sweat fabrics are suited for daytime dressing, but the satin or polyester can be dressed up for night-time. Glassons Khaki Wrap Blouse $39.99, Witchery Winter Drape Pant $109.90, Country Road Michelle Studded Boot $279.00, Trenery Textured Longline Wool Cashmere Cardigan $199.00.
Seed Heritage Pinstripe Jogger Pant $139.90 and Country Road Velour Track Pant $89.90.

Dresses
Try layering your summer slip dress over a merino top, or team beautiful print dresses with tights and ankle boots or long boots.
Shine On Elm Wildflower Shift Dress $149.95, Stitch Ministry Cami Dress $189.99, Trelise Cooper Co_Op Prints You've Been Gone Dress $229.00, Ezibuy Printed Maxi Boho Dress $99.00.

Hi Sam, What would be your best buys for smart but comfortable work trousers? I need something stretchy as I often have to move around and even sit on the floor, and I've found some nice ones (Whistle?) that are bengaline I think but they are too skinny around the ankles. I need something with a straighter leg and a flat front, preferable pull-on, but also reasonably smart looking. Any ideas? Thanks,

Sarah x

Hi Sarah - Portmans are always good for work trousers, Country Road have a good range at the other end of the price scale-Jacquard Legging. Decjuba have the bengaline style and they are super comfy but not straight leg. Most of the pull-on ponte or stretch trousers narrow at the ankle. I hope that helps. Say hi to the choir for me x
