The midi skirt & how to wear it.

The midi skirt, which actually crept in last summer, is going to be a summer staple. A midi skirt traditionally falls just below the knee, so for those of us wanting to show a bit of leg, but not in a mini, and don't want a floor skimming maxi they are great. If you pick the right style of skirt, and co-ordinate it correctly, it can be a very flattering look as it highlights the slimmest part of your leg, the calves and ankles.

Here are my picks from the shops, and below I show you how to style a few different looks. When styling your looks  you want to give yourself some waist definition with a midi skirt. Whether that's a cropped top, or a tucked in t-shirt, or a top layered but belted, make sure you show off your waist to balance off the long skirt.

For more looks that I love check out my Pinterest page.

For a pleated midi skirt try; French Connection Laura drawn stripe midi AU$129.95, Glassons gathered midi skirt $49.99, Witchery High low midi skirt $139.90.

For a tube midi try; Witchery Tome wrap skirt $199.90, Seed Heritage Collection crepe midi AU$99.95, The Iconic Bardot midi skirt AU$55.97.

Skirt as above, Decjuba joie de vie top $59.95, Seed Heritage blocked panama hat AU$49.95,  Trenery Alexis sandal $139.00.

For a pop of colour try this Glassons midi with a neutral shorter top and pretty sneakers. Glassons midi as above, Witchery crochet fringe knit $149.90, Merchant Kellie low top sneaker $139.90.

For a smart work look or drinks with the girls team a straight midi with a body-vest. This Seed Heritage body-vest is great as it gives you the look of a cami tucked in with the draped front, but you don't get all the unsightly material under the skirt. Worn with a lined white skirt like this its a perfect complement. The jacket is belted so you can create a nipped in waist, otherwise there would be too much fabric.
Skirt as above, Witchery, Seed Heritage Collection wrap front bodysuit AU$69.95, Country Road Textured wrap jacket $349.00, Seed Heritage Francesca tassle tote AU$89.95, Mi Piaci Teigan $260.00.

For a pretty girl dressed-up vibe try this beautiful girly Forever New skirt with a cami tucked in, heels and a statement beaded clutch. (If you choose accessories for this look opt for earrings and a bracelet.)
Skirt as above, Forever New,
Country Road high neck silk cami $109.00, Seed Heritage Camilla heel AU$179.95, Seed beaded clutch AU$69.95.

A mini skirt is just the outfit that I need right now. I mean, with the hot weather, wearing pants will just make you sweat more. Of course, it is daring to wear a mini skirt in our neighborhood, but I will try to do it still. I want to feel more relaxed, no matter what other people may say. It is hard enough to go to work all day, so why can't I have some fun with my outfit.
